Take it Back

What is Take it Back?
A national movement led by youth to reduce alcohol problems and increase the health and safety of youth.

Take It Back is not a program, curriculum or organization.

Take It Back is about re-claiming what has been taken from youth due to alcohol. This includes their safety, dignity, culture, good health and future.

How is Take it Back organized?
Because Take It Back is a movement and not an organization, it does not have a systematic structure. There are numerous youth organizations across the country that are currently working on the youth and alcohol issue. Take It Back will assist these groups in three key areas: 1) connect the existing networks; 2) provide tools, resources and training to educate youth on how to raise awareness, grow the movement and change local policies; and 3) strengthen and grow the network by recruiting new youth.

What does Take it Back hope to accomplish?
Increase public awareness of the problems due to alcohol use and misuse by youth.

Educate on a local and national level the complexity and breadth of the alcohol and
youth issue.

Reduce the number of alcohol-related incidents among youth.

Change local policies that affect the availability of alcohol to youth.

Who can be a part of Take it Back?
Any interested youth that has a strong desire to work on the youth and alcohol issue and is committed to attending the training that will help them be an active participant in local community change efforts.

Any adult willing to support and assist youth in their efforts to create change on alcohol issues at the local level.
